Global Ispat Koksna Industrija d.o.o. Lukavac (GIKIL) is known for its high-quality products, leadership, a culture of corporate social responsibility, and long-term relationships with clients, always aiming to serve customers’ needs in the most cost-effective way.
The company has almost thousand employees, and the entire complex, with its five operating units (Coke plant, Maleic Anhydride Plant, Fertilizer plant, Power plant and Maintenance plant) covers an area of about one million square meters.
The seat of GIKIL is located in Lukavac. Because it is located next to the main road Doboj-Tuzla, the company has excellent road connections. The company is linked to the railway west to Sarajevo via Doboj and all the way to the Adriatic port of Ploče.
Also, there is a connection from Doboj to Bosanski Brod and Slavonski Brod, and from there to Vinkovci, which is connected to the railway line Belgrade-Zagreb. GIKIL is connected by rail to Serbia and Montenegro to the east via Tuzla and Zvornik, and to Croatia to the north via Orašje, Šamac, Brčko, Bosanski Brod, and the Belgrade-Zagreb railway. GIKIL has the possibility of river transport of products through the Vukovar river port on the Danube River and the Brčko port on the Sava River.

What We Produce
Coke production in Lukavac has a history of more than 60 years, which is why GIKIL proudly holds the title of the leading producer of metallurgical coke in the region. Universal and Premium are two of GIKIL’s well-known metallurgical coke brands, and we also offer nut coke and coke breeze. In addition to the production of high-quality coke and non-coke products such as crude benzene, crude tar and ammonium sulfate, the company also supplies the European market with maleic anhydride, and until October 2021 the plant also produced mineral fertilizers.
The power plant is also operating in the company, which, in addition to providing internal electricity, also supplies electricity to the public grid. It produces and distributes decarbonized and demineralized water for the needs of GIKIL and the citizens of the city of Lukavac municipality.
Maintenance plant is an organization specialized for the production, assembly and maintenance of process equipment and facilities in GIKIL and specialized services to third parties outside GIKIL, for various fields of activity.
GIKIL also has its own highly developed railway infrastructure within its own micro location.
